Label
Polonia Records
Forces
Solo, Piano
Personnel
Leszek Możdżer piano, with Tomasz Stańko trumpet and Zbigniew Namysłowski alto saxophone

Chopin Impresje was Leszek Możdżer’s first album as a leader, recorded when he was 23. Most of it is solo piano, although Tomasz Stańko appears on the second version of the F major Nocturne and Zbigniew Namysłowski joins the closing Mazurka.

The album already shows Możdżer treating Chopin as material for something personal. He can keep the original music close to the surface or fold it into another tune: the A-flat Prelude meets My Secret Love, while the A minor Étude runs into Charlie Parker’s Segment.
